The delegation of the Senate Standing Committee on National Heritage and Culture Division visited the ancient residence of Allama Iqbal

A delegation of the Senate Standing Committee on National Heritage and Culture Division visited 116 McLeod Road, the ancient residence of Allama Iqbal on March 9, 2023. In this visit, delegation was briefed regarding the "Project for Restoration and Repair of Allama Iqbal Ancient Residence". Chairman Senate Standing Committee Senator Dr. Afnan Ullah Khan reviewed the project in detail.

The delegation included Secretary Senate Standing Committee Senator Farzana Khan, Senator Irfan Siddiqui, Senator Atta-Ur-Rahman and Senator Keshoo Bai. Director Iqbal Academy Prof. Dr. Baseera Ambreen, Director General Department of Archeology and Museum Dr. Abdul Azim, Director General of National Language Promotion Department Dr. Rashid Hameed and Engineer Muhammad Azim were also present on this occasion. Director Iqbal Academy Pakistan Prof. Dr. Baseera Ambreen briefed the delegation about the progress since its inception in the context of "Rehabilitation and Repair Project of Allama Iqbal Ancient Residence". She also told about the problems faced in the completion of this project.

Project Director for "Rehabilitation and Repair Project of Allama Iqbal Ancient Residence" Dr. Abdul Azim briefed the delegation members about the practical steps of the project.

Senate Standing Committee Chairman Senator Dr. Afnan Ullah Khan said that living nations preserve the monuments of their famous people. This project will also preserve the memories associated with this residence of Allama Iqbal. He expressed satisfaction over the progress made in the project.

Senator Irfan Siddiqui appreciated the efforts of Secretary National Heritage and Culture Division Ms. Fareena Mazhar, Director General Department of Archeology and Museum Dr. Abdul Azim, Director Iqbal Academy Pakistan Prof. Dr. Baseera Ambareen for the launch of this project.

He said that this is a good initiative of National Heritage and Culture Division. He said that the project should be completed as soon as possible and the Standing Committee of the Senate will use its powers to make every possible effort to solve the problems faced in the completion of the project.

Senator Dr. Afnan Ullah Khan, Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee, also planted a plant in the lawn of Allama Iqbal's ancient residence during this visit.

Senior officers of Archeology and Museum and Iqbal Academy were also present along with the delegation of the committee on this occasion.
