The Second National Literary Naat Conference 2023 held in Minhaj University Lahore in collaboration with Hassan Bin Thabit Center for Research in Naat Literature and Naat Forum International

On 12 March 2023, the Second National Literary Naat Conference was held at Minhaj University. This conference was held in collaboration with Hassan Bin Thabit Center for Research in Naat Literature and Naat Forum International of Minhaj University. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Fakhrul Haq Noori, Dean Faculty of Languages, Minhaj University, Sarwar Hussain Naqshbandi, Chairman, Naat Forum International, Dr. Sajid Mehmood Shehzad, Vice Chancellor, Minhaj University, Syed Sabihuddin Sabih Rahmani and Dr. Riaz Majeed spoke at the inaugural meeting.

Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, Chairman Board of Governors, Minhaj University Lahore, delivered the keynote address in which he highlighted the history of Urdu, Persian, Turkish and Arabic naat and discussed various aspects of naat and contemporary naat literature. He discussed many new angles and corners regarding the effective creation and presentation of naat literature.

A panel discussion was also organized in the conference on the topic of "Genre of Naat: Blending of Belief, Devotion and Art and Style". The panel discussion was chaired by Prof. Dr. Baseera Ambareen, Director, Iqbal Academy Pakistan. Dr. Uzma Zareen Nazia, Associate Professor, Department of Persian Oriental College, Punjab University Lahore, Dr. Samina Gul, Lecturer Urdu, University of Lahore Sargodha Campus, Razia Majeed, lecturer Urdu Department, GC University, Lahore, Dr. Anila Saleem, Assistant Professor, Urdu Language and Urdu Literature, University of the Punjab, Lahore and Sofia Bidar, Editor Books, In-Charge e-Library, Majlis Traqi Adab, Lahore expressed their views.

In their discussion, the speakers discussed the combination of belief and devotion and moderation in Naat and expressed their thoughts in detail about the Urdu Naat written in different styles nowadays. They pointed to the aspect that the creation of Naat literature, keeping in mind the high literary parameters and standards with the moderation of passion and faith, can not only enrich Urdu literature but it can also bring the possibilities of our intellectual and religious reformation.
