An online lecture titled "Iqbal's art of poetry" was organized under the auspices of Iqbal Academy Pakistan. Renowned teacher, researcher, scholar of Urdu language and literature and ex-Chairman, Dean faculty and Principal Oriental college, Punjab University Khawaja Muhammad Zakariya was the guest speaker. He said during his speech that object and art are in consonance during poetry. Great poetry comes into being through this consonance. Whatever the subject or words may be, if the appropriate metrical is not used the poetry is unable to produce the impact which is available in works of great poets. Poetry or any other art cannot reach epitome unless thought is not present in the most appropriate manner. If the poetry of Iqbal is observed, his art and objects are consonant with each other. Mere thought is not important, clothing it with appropriate word is a difficult task. No great writer is available till today whose reading was not wide. A writer having limited reading starts repitition quite early. Such meaningless and unguided repetition is not available in expression of great poets. Urdu poetry of Iqbal carries impressions of classical Urdu poets like Sauda, Aatish, Zauq and Ghalib. This cannot be criticized uselessly. The subjects of philosophy that have been presented by the writer philosophers are grounded in Greek philosophy. Same is the case with poetry.
