Obituary - Prof. Dr. Sayyed Muhammad Akram Shah Ikram

    

Prof. Dr. Sayyed Muhammad Akram Shah Ikram, who was Ex-Chairman at the Department of Iqbal Studies, Ex-Professor Emeritus at the Department of Persian, University of the Punjab, Lahore & was an ex Dean Faculty of Oriental Learning and Ex-Chairman, Department of Persian, University of the Punjab, Lahore-Pakistan has left this world for the abode of eternity today, August 20, 2022, alas!

He was one of the very well-known figures around the academic circles not only in Pakistan, but throughout the world of Orientalists, hereinwith. He served at the University of the Punjab for serval years and have worked his patience out on producing quality teachers, academicians as well as hopeful researchers.

During his tenure, he has successfully authored, complied and made edition to a several number of books and contributed innumerable research papers. Amongst his contributions, the Encyclopedia of Iqbal Studies “Daira Muarif-e-Iqbal” that covers 372 basic and important concepts related to the philosophy of Allama Iqbal, is considered one of the largest encyclopedias in Iqbal Studies. This encyclopedia is indeed, a great contribution, which will absolutely guide the interested students and the scholars, in the long run, even in the upcoming generations too.

His prayer for funeral will be offered at Mamdot Block, Mustafa Town, Wahdat Road, Lahore insha'Allah, today i.e. August 20, 2022 after Maghrib prayer.
The team of Iqbal Academy, under supervision of Prof. Dr. Baseera Ambreen, Director of the Academy, regrets his demise and feel dejection on his death and her team conveys affectionate condolence to his family.

May Allah Almighty accept his good deeds by granting him absolute high ranks at His heavens. Ameen!
